Heading into the back half of the weekend, we’ll stay in an active pattern thanks to more shortwaves passing through each day into the new week. We’ll also crank up the dial on the heat, with return flow from the southwest sticking around. On Sunday, storm coverage will be a little less once again, but isolated showers and storms will be around in the afternoon as highs peak into the middle and upper 80’s. Sunday night will also be the start of a few warm and muggy nights with lows only dropping into the upper 60’s.
Monday and Tuesday we’ll rinse and repeat this same pattern and conditions. One thing we’ll be watching is heat index values on Monday, as the warmth is expected to peek with heat index values likely in the middle and upper 90’s. On Wednesday, a cold front finally sweeps through the area, bringing another round of rain but cooling us back down for the later part of the week.
A stray shower early on Thursday can’t be ruled out, but after that we begin to bring back the sunshine that will last into next weekend. The cool down will also be in full swing, with highs staying in the 70’s and lows finally back into the comfortable range of the 50’s.
